Mit Bahnhofsfesten in Quedlinburg und Gernrode wird am Sonnabend die Freigabe des neuen neun Kilometer langen Abschnittes der Selketalbahn gefeiert. Wenn sich um 17 Uhr der Premierenzug in Gernrode in Bewegung setzt, wird Geschichte geschrieben. Denn der 6,5 Millionen Euro teure Neubau einer Bahntrasse mit einer Spurweite von einem Meter ist europaweit einmalig. <br \/>Das Netz der Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH (HSB) w\u00e4chst mit der Erweiterung auf 140 Kilometer und bleibt laut HSB das l\u00e4ngste einer Schmalspurbahn mit t\u00e4glichen Regelbetrieb in Europa. Zugleich wird die seit Jahren angestrebte Anbindung der Unesco-Welterbestadt Quedlinburg an das Schmalspurnetz Realit\u00e4t. Vor Ort erhofft man sich vor allem einen Schub f\u00fcr den Tourismus, denn so werden Dampffahrten direkt auf den Brocken m\u00f6glich. Allerdings fr\u00fchestens ab 26. Juni, denn erst dann wird nach dem Komplettieren der Sicherungstechnik der fahrplanm\u00e4\u00dfige Verkehr aufgenommen.<br \/>Die Bahnhofsfeste beginnen um 13 Uhr.
