Der gelernte Ingenieur und Berufschullehrer ist seit 1987 Mitglied bei den Ulmer<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Eisenbahnfreunden\">Eisenbahnfreunden<\/a><\/span> und geh&ouml;rt zur Sektion<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Albb&auml;hnle,\">Albb&auml;hnle,<\/a><\/span> die f&uuml;r die Strecke von<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Amstetten\">Amstetten<\/a><\/span> nach<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Oppingen\">Oppingen<\/a><\/span> verantwortlich ist.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSechs Kilometer sind von den knapp 20 Kilometern der einst bis Laichingen f&uuml;hrenden<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Schmalspurbahn\">Schmalspurbahn<\/a><\/span> vom Abriss verschont geblieben. Dieser Abschnitt wird von den 20 Mitgliedern der Sektion Albb&auml;hnle gehegt und gepflegt. Dazu geh&ouml;rt die Wartung der<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Dampf-\">Dampf-<\/a><\/span> und<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Diesellok,\">Diesellok,<\/a><\/span> der Personen- und G&uuml;terwagen sowie der technischen Ger&auml;tschaften. Jahr f&uuml;r Jahr m&uuml;ssen auch 200 bis 300 alte und zum Teil morsche<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Schwellen\">Schwellen<\/a><\/span> gegen neue Buchen- oder Eichenschwellen ersetzt werden. Das ist schwei&szlig;treibende Knochenarbeit, weil es nach Schumachers Worten f&uuml;r die Schmalspurbahn so gut wie keine passenden Maschinen gibt, die Muskelkraft ersetzen. Lediglich der<span class=\"hashtag\"> #<a href=\"https:\/\/archiv.schmalspurbahn.de?s=%23Schotterwagen\">Schotterwagen<\/a><\/span> und der Stopfer, mit dem der Schotter im Gleisbett verdichtet wird, stehen zur Verf&uuml;gung. Alles andere ist weitgehend Handarbeit.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tEin etwa 200 Meter langes Gleisst&uuml;ck beim Bahnhof Oppingen mit knapp 300 Schwellen im Abstand von jeweils 70 Zentimetern stand dieses Jahr auf dem Arbeitsprogramm. Um die Jahreswende ging es los.
