Das Jubil\u00e4umsprogramm umfasst dabei morgen Samstag, 20. Juli, die &#8222;Lange Nacht der Liliputbahn&#8220;. Seit 1928 ist die Liliputbahn im Wiener Prater unterwegs und damit die \u00e4lteste Bahn dieser Art auf dem europ\u00e4ischen Festland. Weder die Wirtschaftskrise der 1930er-Jahre, noch die Zerst\u00f6rung im Zweiten Weltkrieg konnten sie aufhalten. So begeistert die Fahrt in den offenen Wagen auf der nur etwas \u00fcber 38 Zentimeter schmalen Spur auch heute noch Jung und Alt gleicherma\u00dfen. Die Bahn und ihre beiden originalen Dampflokomotiven feiern heuer ihren 85-j\u00e4hrigen Geburtstag. Die vier Dieselloks stammen aus den 1960er-Jahren und sind ebenfalls schon Oldtimer. Urspr\u00fcnge Die urspr\u00fcngliche Idee f\u00fcr Eisenbahnen im Kleinformat kam aus England, wo gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wohlhabende Gro\u00dfgrundbesitzer private Vergn\u00fcgungsbahnen auf ihren Landsitzen aufbauten. Daher auch die ungew\u00f6hnliche Spurweite von 381mm, die genau 15 Englischen Zoll entsprechen. Er\u00f6ffnung und Ausbau Im Jahr 1925 baute die M\u00fcnchner Lokomotivenfabrik Krauss &#038; Co drei Liliput-Dampflokomotiven. Sie kamen \u00fcber den damaligen Obmann der Praterunternehmer, Ludwig Pretscher, nach Wien. Bis 1928 wurde die Strecke zur Rotunde gebaut. Die Bahn nahm am 1. Mai 1928 offiziell ihren Betrieb auf. Da die Fahrgastzahlen nach einem anf\u00e4nglich starken Interesse wieder zur\u00fcckgingen, beschloss man 1933 eine Verl\u00e4ngerung bis zum damals noch neuen Praterstadion zu bauen. Die Strecke erreichte damit ihre heutige Ausdehnung. Wirtschaftskrise und Zweiter Weltkrieg W\u00e4hrend der Wirtschaftskrise und der allgemeinen Armut der Bev\u00f6lkerung im totalit\u00e4ren &#8222;St\u00e4ndestaat&#8220; sanken die Fahrgastzahlen weiter. Die Bahn war mehrmals vom Konkurs bedroht. Erst in der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges nahmen die BesucherInnen-Zahlen im Prater wieder zu. Auch das Gesch\u00e4ft mit der Liliputbahn ging wieder besser. 1942 musste sogar eine dritte Dampflok gekauft werden, die ebenfalls 1928 gebaut worden war. 1945 wurden die Bahnanlagen und Geb\u00e4ude beim Gro\u00dfbrand des Praters weitgehend zerst\u00f6rt, nur die st\u00e4hlernen Dampfr\u00f6sser \u00fcberstanden das Feuer fast unbeschadet. Die Liliputbahn heute Schon 1947 fuhr wieder der erste Zug auf den nur provisorisch instand gesetzten Schienen. In den 1960er-Jahren gesellten sich zu den Dampfloks auch noch Dieselloks dazu, die heute die Grundlast des t\u00e4glichen Fahrbetriebs tragen. Zwei der drei originalen Dampfloks sind ebenfalls noch erhalten und werden an Wochenenden und Feiertagen eingesetzt.
