Die restliche, sechs Kilometer lange Strecke \u00fcbernahm die Gemeinde Amstetten. Daf\u00fcr hatte sich der damalige B\u00fcrgermeister Walter Sigloch eingesetzt. Er war stellvertretender Vorsitzender der &#8222;Ulmer Eisenbahnfreunde&#8220;. Um die Schienen f\u00fcr eine Museumsbahn am Leben zu erhalten, steuerte das Landratsamt einen Zuschuss von umgerechnet rund 25 000 Euro bei. Der Streckenabschnitt, der f\u00fcr viele landschaftlich der sch\u00f6nste ist, blieb f\u00fcr die Nachwelt erhalten. 1986 bekam der Verein vier Personenwagen von der schweizerischen Appenzeller Bahn. Zudem besorgten er sich die 1904 gebaute Dampflok &#8222;99 7203&#8220;.
