Seit 1971 haben diese Nikolausfahrten die Herzen der Kinder und auch die ihrer Eltern erobert. <br \/>Die Fahrg\u00e4ste &#8211; weit mehr als 10.000 jedes Jahr &#8211; kommen nicht nur aus Deutschland, sondern auch aus Belgien und den Niederlanden.<br \/>Vom Bahnhof Geilenkirchen-Gillrath aus geht die Fahrt \u00fcber die zirka sechs Kilometer lange Strecke nach Gangelt-Schierwaldenrath. Bis zu zehn Personenwagen muss die kleine Dampflok \u00fcber die Strecke ziehen. Kurz nach der Abfahrt h\u00e4lt der Dampfzug auf der freien Strecke.
